Young Thug Denied Bond (News)
Young Thug lost his first major battle in a massive RICO case. A judge has denied the superstar rapper bond, ruling he is a flight risk!
Young Thug has been denied bond after a judge determined the rap star was a flight risk today (May 11th) during a bond hearing.
Prosecutors claim YSL is affiliated with the Bloods gang, which was founded in Los Angeles. The 30-year-old was named as a gang “founder” by prosecutors.
Young Thug, born Jeffery Lamar Williams, is being held at Fulton County Jail on charges including conspiracy to violate the Racketeer-Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) and participation in criminal street gang activity.
He was also charged with 7 new felonies after cops found a cache of guns and a large number of drugs at his mansion when he was arrested. Sadly, Young Thug’s 14-year-old son was at home when the rapper was arrested.
The new charges and an open drug case from a 2018 traffic stop weighed heavily in the judge’s decision to deny bond for the rapper.
Young Thug’s lawyer cited his strong ties to the community in Atlanta, fame as a rapper, and his willingness to surrender his passport and wear an ankle monitor if he was released, but the judge did not go for it.
The judge said Young Thug had a strong network outside of Atlanta and that, in addition to committing more felonies, it could be hard to get the rap star back into court should he be released and want to abscond.
In addition, fellow rapper Gunna – also known as Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, was arrested and charged with one count of attempting to violate RICO. Several artists on the YSL label, including Unfoonk and Lil Duke, are also facing RICO charges.
