Fiyah Marshall: Blending Island Vibes and Global Sounds with “Drop It”
Emerging from the vibrant shores of Bermuda, Fiyah Marshall is an artist who effortlessly blends island vibes with global sounds. With his unique fusion of reggae, soca, and hip-hop, Fiyah Marshall is creating music that not only makes you feel good but leaves a lasting impression. His latest single, “Drop It” featuring Damire Major, is a testament to his ability to innovate while staying true to his roots.
The Roots of a Flame
For Fiyah Marshall, music is deeply connected to his Bermudian heritage. Born and raised on the tiny island in the Atlantic, he draws inspiration from the Caribbean-influenced culture that surrounds him. “Bermuda has a vibe that resonates through my music—it’s all about mixing that feel-good energy into every track,” he explains.
His name, Fiyah Marshall, perfectly captures his artistry. “A Fire Marshall usually controls the size of a crowd at an event, shutting it down if it’s too busy. I’m the opposite—I want to ram out the party and turn up the energy,” he says with a smile. “Fiyah” also stands for something cool or top-tier, and that’s the energy I bring.”
Behind “Drop It”
“Drop It” is more than a song—it’s a vibe. The track was born out of collaboration with Bermudian producer 8 Track and Las Vegas-based artist Damire Major. “Damire’s style is exactly what I was looking for—she raps and sings in both English and Spanish, which added a dope blend of flavors,” Fiyah Marshall shares.
The production process for “Drop It” was organic and fast-paced. “We wrote the record and finished it in just three hours. It all flowed so naturally,” he recalls. The result is an energetic anthem that seamlessly blends reggae, hip-hop, and Spanish influences.
The Visuals: A Movie in Motion
The accompanying music video for “Drop It” is as dynamic as the song itself. “The video is live on YouTube, and it’s a movie—super lit with lots of energy,” he says. Fiyah describes the visuals as a “proper strip club anthem,” designed to amplify the song’s high-energy vibe.
He believes visuals are essential to a song’s success. “Having visuals is super imperative for any project that wants to go the distance,” he notes.
Influences and Evolution
Fiyah Marshall credits his sound to a diverse array of influences, with Sean Paul being a standout. “Sean Paul is probably the closest to my sound and my biggest influence,” he shares. However, his music is also shaped by his personal creative process, which is driven by the vibe of each beat. “When I catch a vibe, I roll with it,” he says.
Audience Connection
With “Drop It,” Fiyah hopes to give listeners a reason to move. “I want them to get lit, dance their ass off, and just have a good time,” he says. The feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans loving how the track steps outside his usual reggae and soca roots into hip-hop territory.
What’s Next for Fiyah Marshall
The momentum doesn’t stop with “Drop It.” Fiyah Marshall is hard at work on his second album, Smoke Signals, alongside a string of singles and videos slated for release. “It’s been an awesome year of touring, doing shows, and creating new content,” he says.
Short-term, he aims to release more music and connect with new audiences. Long-term, his dreams include winning a Grammy, becoming a household name, and touring full-time.
Advice for Aspiring Artists
For up-and-coming artists, Fiyah Marshall offers practical wisdom: “Don’t stop, and don’t think you’ll blow up overnight. Learn the business side of music—register your songs, get your paperwork right, and push yourself effectively with whatever budget you have.”
