Video Surfaces Of White Kendrick Lamar Fan Rapping The N-Word On Stage: "You Gotta Bleep One Single Word"
If you're lucky enough to have Kendrick Lamar pull you on stage for a sing-a-long, there's just a few things you probably shouldn't do. During the Hangout Fest in Alabama, Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar brought a white fan onstage with him to perform one of his major hit songs "M.A.A.D City". If you've heard the classic Good Kid, M.A.A.D City album then you've probably heard the song. But in case you haven't it starts out "If piru's and crips all got along / they'd probably gun me down by the end of this song / seems like the whole city go against me/ everytime i'm in the streets I hear / yawk yawk yawk yawk!!!" The song then goes on to say the N word about 4 times in the next few bars.
Now you would think that as a white fan of a black performer saying the N word might not be something you really wanna do, and I personally think it's only right to self-censor. However, one Kendrick Lamar fan named Delaney didn't get the memo that evening. As you can see in the video below Delaney censored herself the first time around, but then went on with the song and continued to use the word not only once, but a few times more before she was stopped.
"wait, wait, wait, wait, wait" said kendrick, before he interrupted her. Clueless to his response and being stopped Delaney then said in front of millions of other shocked fans "Am I not cool enough for you? what's up bro?". Kendrick went on to explain to her "You gotta bleep out one word". Delaney then asked to stay on stage and apologized saying "I'm sorry, i'm used to singing it how you wrote it"
He then gave her a second chance to redeem herself despite the fans in the crowd clearly being upset with her mistake. She then terribly failed to sing along with the words correctly and was cut off again and removed from the stage. Vibes were definitely killed after that, and it's reported Kendrick then went on to perform "B*tch don't kill my vibe" next.
How do you feel about this? Should white hip-hop fans already know just not to use the N word when singing along to their favorite artists songs? Or is it something that needs to be discussed more often?
