Golden State Warriors To Face Houston Rockets On NBA Opening Night
Two of the league's best teams will go at it.
The NBA has announced its slate of national broadcast games TV viewers can look forward to for the opening week of the 2017-18 season and their Christmas Day games. In short, we've got some major tilts on our hands.
As per Bleacher Report, the season will kick off on Tuesday, Oct. 17 with a great doubleheader on TNT. First up are the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena, the two strongest teams in the East from last year. That match-up begins at 8 p.m. ET. However, that's just a warm-up compared to what the headline game of the night should be, with the revamped Houston Rockets facing off against the reigning NBA champs, the Golden State Warriors, at Oracle Arena in Oakland. Houston of course added Chris Paul this offseason, hoping to create a guard tandem with James Harden that could give the Warriors fits.
Elsewhere, the New York Knicks will also headline during Opening Week, taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder at Chesapeake Energy Arena on October 19th. The Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers will also meet for the first Hollywood battle of the season on the same night. The Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Cavaliers, Warriors, Washington Wizards, Celtics, Rockets and the Thunder will take part in the Christmas Day festivities to help close out 2017 in style.
